2017 Boot & Buckle Results

Contests & Games

June 29, 2017—

The 2017 Boot & Buckle was our best to date—and we’re quite okay with that. It’s perhaps our favorite weekend of the entire year. It’s so fun to witness this event grow into such a special weekend.

For this year’s event, we were blessed with rainless, sunny weather. As the event pressed on, the winds picked up, just enough to make the matches interesting.

The live entertainment music was great, played by the always awesome Jonny Mogambo. The food was fabulous. We absolutely love hosting this event.

We were overwhelmed by the encouraging comments made by so many participants as they left.

We’re already counting down the days until next year…

Jeff Nelson’s Hole-in-One

Jeff Nelson poses after his scholarship fundraiser hole-in-one.

On Thursday before the event, we had a fundraiser for The Prairie Club Foundation. We put a hole down on the Old Wagon putting course and started taking shots from the top of the hill.

We’ll let Jeff take it from here:

“Pulled out 56 degree Ping Glide 2 (ad for a hopeful future sponsor). I bought in for 5 shots. Teed up first four shots. Short on first two, fat on third, caught up in trees on 4th. Decided to go teeless on the last shot.

After a rare smooth, slow backswing, I accelerated nicely and caught the sweet spot (happens 1/32 shots). It was a majestic high ball into the slope to the left of the green. It disappeared over the trees, but afer for a few seconds reappeared rolling slowly sideways off the slope straight toward the flag.  The gallery chimed in with a “that could be the one,” and it proceeded to drop in.

Cheers erupted, followed by some high fives and fist bumps — lots of love — much appreciated. One of my best Prairie Club memories.”

Congratulations, Jeff!

The 2018 Boot & Buckle

The 2018 Boot & Buckle will take place June 21-24.

We will open up registration October 10th, 2017. Prior to our opening day registration, we will release all of the information and instructions for registration. Because of this event’s unprecedented popularity, at the time of entry, all 2018 entry fees must be paid, along with member and guest information submitted.

We’ll be in touch with more information at the close of the season.

2018 Handicap Rules

  • Every player must have an established handicap.
  • Rule 80. Players who have a combined age and handicap of 80 are allowed to play from the green tees.  The golf shop must be informed about players choosing to play from the green tees when they submit their tournament info.
  • There may be no more than a 10 stroke course handicap difference between partners.  For example, if Player A is a 10 handicap and Player B is 22 handicap, Player B will be adjusted to a 20 handicap for the event.

2018 Format

The Boot & Buckle format is a round robin, four-ball match play event. Each flight will consist of six, two-man teams. All matches are 9-hole matches, with the first match commencing Friday morning.

All matches are 9-hole matches, with the first match commencing Friday morning. Three matches will be played on Friday, and the final two matches will take place on Saturday.  The team with the most points after all 5 matches will be the flight champion.
