Golf.com Releases 2022-2023 Lists
November 11, 2022 —
It was a busy week for the folks at Golf.com.
Articles and rankings and lists were going live faster than the golf world could read them.
Worry not!
Our team collected them throughout the week.
Anywhere that The Prairie Club was mentioned, we intercepted it, then collected them below for our beloved golf crazies who love reading golf architecture content the way we do.
Enjoy!
(And if you see other cool mentions of the club, please email our marketing team. Email: AsPureAsGolfGets@Gmail.com).
The team at Golf.com has 117 course panelists who prepare this list every year. Three courses in Nebraska made the 2022-2023 list, with the Dunes coming in at #94.
When this list was last published in 2020-2021, the Dunes ranked #82.
This list is cut-and-dry, the full list of every single golf course in the United States, public or private.
Note: It was a bit of a surprise to see Sand Hills (#6) down the road clip Augusta National (#7).
The Dunes was rated #21 on the Top-50 Best Golf Courses in the Midwest, the best of the best in the middle of America.
The country was broken into four segments — the Northeast, Southeast, Midwest, and West.
The Midwest may have short seasons, but we have wonderful golf.
This is a recognition of Top-100 Courses You Can Play, taking the Top-100 list published above and identifying the courses made available to the traveling golfer.
The Dunes Course ranked on the list.
This makes us happy, as many of you know. More great golf needs to be available.
Ran Morrissett, GOLF’s Architecture Editor, wrote a short story that starts with a simple sentence: “Search Valentine, Neb., on Google.”
The rest is a wonderful little read on small-town golf — Valentine, NE at the heart of it. (Pun absolutely intended.)
It seems as though Golf.com launched a private-access membership portal called “InsideGOLF,” and this article is behind the paywall.
If you’re a paying member, you can read. The Prairie Club is mentioned in this rater’s breakdown of the list.
That should be the most of it.
There was an additional story published by Ran that explained how the list itself is conceived. The Prairie Club was not mentioned, but it was a good read nonetheless, and you can find it here.
A pretty overwhelming week with enough golf content to spend weeks thumbing through.
It’s always a joy to see our club held in such high-esteem, but we never lose sight of the fact that this course was never built to achieve national recognition.
It was built to celebrate this land, enjoy the game of golf, and find others who share in that.
