A Message from Loudan Steffes, PGA | Spring 2021

March 20, 2021 —

Good afternoon, members,

Loudan here, checking in on all things golf ops related for the 2021 golf season. I tell you what, the four plus months that have passed since closing have been an absolute whirlwind.

The next 60 days are going to fly, too, I suppose.

Our newest daughter, Veda (pronounced vay-dah) is almost six months old already. She’s been awesome and Andi and I are so happy with her. And our little man Brandt, he’s killing it, as always. We’re doing well.

Anyways, I wanted to drop in this week to provide you an update on a few things going on in the golf shop for the 2021 season.

Let’s start with an exciting one (for me and my staff, at least): new golf carts.

Our Yamaha partnership remains strong and we’ll be bringing in a new fleet, complete with rain covers, USB plug-ins for devices, and plush seating. They’ll all have GPS and I’m excited to start fresh for 2021. I’ll be interested to hear the feedback of our first few members to cruise around in come May.

As for other golf ops, we’re still looking at ways to continue to enhance the experience of our membership, all while keeping our guests and staff safe given concerns with COVID. We’re hoping for the best this year as decisions are made.

On the events front, we have a full 2021 Boot & Buckle and a full 2021 Couples Weekend and we’re already looking ahead to those weekends.

We are also adding an annual golf event to Couples Weekend (which you all have heard about) and we’re working on ordering a trophy that will sit in the Eagle’s Nest for years to come. Bragging rights!

The team, along with myself, will follow up more on those in the future.

But today, I want to talk about The Homesteader.

We’re moving the Homesteader officially to October (8-10) where it will have a permanent home.

We feel finishing the season off with our members is simply the right decision. It allows us to build into the event over the course of the entire 150-day season. That, and we can place an exclusive focus on an event we hope becomes truly great as we finish our season.

Ideally, The Homesteader going to be a golf-centered event, one experienced as our courses in peak fall condition. I’m excited about giving the Homesteader some stability and a home in October.

This year’s Homesteader is a two-day golf event (18 holes each day) with a quota scoring format and shootout to determine our champions. Teams can be member/member, member/guest, couples, father/child — you choose.

So as long as golfers have a GHIN, we’ll make it work and register you. There are a few slots available and I know Mandi would be happy to put you on our list.

This event will be a blast.

As for the golf shop, orders have been placed on more great merchandise to add to the shop for 2021.

From Links & Kings headcovers, to a whole line of new Seamus accessories, we’ve got tons of really quality product headed our way and I’m chomping at the bit to start the inventory process.

For apparel, Peter Millar and FootJoy continue to be great partners and reliable sellers, so we have more coming from them, along with adding men’s apparel from Bad Birdie and Boston Scott — which I’ll be eager to stock.

We also have sourced some really trendy product from Anatomie golf for our ladies.

As always, our team is able to place custom orders for any of our members. Simply send me an email and we’ll get you taken care of.

All-in-all, the 2021 season promises to be a hopeful one, no matter how quickly it arrives. We’ll be ready and I know that I, for one, can’t wait to see golfers hit the courses again.

To a great season ahead,

Loudan Steffes, PGA
