August 21st’s Solar Eclipse
August 1, 2017—
Later this month, one of our planet’s coolest phenomena will take place for a span of 2 minutes and 30 seconds.
On August 21, the continental United States will experience a total solar eclipse, and The Prairie Club happens to be the ideal setting to witness this unforgettable event.
If you’re unfamiliar with the magic of a solar eclipse, it occurs when the moon crosses paths with the sun, blocking all but a glowing ring of light—the corona—from view. Situated just north of the eclipse’s path of totality, we’re set to experience the phenomenon at .95 magnitude.
For just a few minutes on August 21, in the middle of the afternoon, the sun will stop shining. Here’s a cool description of the eclipse.
We can’t imagine a better place to witness this dramatic transformation from day to night than the Nebraska Sandhills.
The lodge is full, and we’re looking forward to seeing many of you for this exciting event. If you’re still looking for a place to stay, get in touch with us and we’d be happy to work with some of our partners in town to find you lodging. If you have the time available, you won’t want to miss this!
