Couples Weekend 2017 Recap

News

August 10, 2017—

Today we’re celebrating another successful Couples Weekend here at the Club.

Last weekend, we welcomed 27 couples for three days of good food, fun, and festivities. As always, our staff had a wonderful time, and we hope those of you who joined us did, too. Judging from the photos, we trust that was the case…

After a welcome reception on Friday evening, we enjoyed a Mexican buffet for supper, followed by a costume party. It’s always entertaining to see the outfits people come up with. Check out our gallery for photos of this event, as well as the rest of the weekend.

On Saturday morning, couples had the option of rising with the sun or enjoying a few extra hours of sleep—our breakfast buffet was open from 6:30 until 10:00 a.m. Beginning at 8:00 they could choose from a wide variety of activities, from golfing, canoeing and other river activities, shopping in downtown Valentine, and much more.

One of our friends, a representative from FootJoy, set up a sweet “mobile pro shop” for members to enjoy a specialized shopping experience. Later in the afternoon, couples took part in the Cantina Shot Competition, hitting shots from just beneath the patio down onto the Old Wagon Course. That evening, guests were able to relax over a multi-course dinner and wine pairing.

Couples Weekend has proven itself time and again as an entirely unique way for members to experience the Club. This year, for a taste of something new, we hosted a farmers market on Sunday morning. This event began at 11:00 a.m. and was a fun opportunity to showcase some of our favorite local businesses and makers.

Vendors included Nebraska favorite and Valentine local, Double K Popcorn, Rose Dredge of Dredge Woodworking with her popular wooden toys, and our very own staff member, Connor Goodwin, selling his handmade soaps, naturally fragranced with essential oils.

If you’re already reminiscing on the fun memories you made last weekend, or if you weren’t able to make it this time, put your name down for next year with Andi Steffes. We’re already looking forward to it.

Finally, if you have stories or photos to share, please send them our way. We love hearing from you. Thank you for a memorable weekend, everyone!
