The 2021 Couples Weekend Recap

“That was by far the best Couples Weekend I’ve been a part of.”

Those are the words of Mr. T.C. Colvin after a jam-packed Couples Weekend that took place last week, Friday, August 6th through Sunday, August 8th.

From The Hooey (our inaugural Couples Weekend golf event), to the food & beverage options (custom-flavored martinis were a huge hit!), to some of the wildest costumes we’ve ever seen at The Prairie Club — the weekend was a huge success and fun for all who attended.

Let’s do a brief run-down:

• The golf event was won by Ryan & Tess Plummer with scores of 84 and 66.  The format for the event was Modified Chapman, with a true, alternate shot for the shootout. Great playing, Plummers!

• Other flight winners were:

  • Kobe Pfeffer and Hali Skipper
  • Mack and Andra Thompson
  • Gary and Julie Steffensmeier.

• The costume winners for the weekend were… *drumroll, please*… Ben & Brooke Thayer! Check them out below, as they had their Mary Poppins & Chimney Sweep dialed in to a tee. See the rest of the costumes here.

• A number of couples took place in an Escape Room. Only four couples successfully navigated their way out. Nice work, all!

• As if the custom-flavored martinis weren’t good enough (Andes Mint, Chocolate Pomegranate, & Mocha), the kitchen staff kicked out some wonderful dishes that were all the rave. The Bison NY Strips stole the show. Unfortunately, we were too busy cooking to take pictures, so any of you are “food photo people” that took photos, please send them to our team. • TC did a cooking class on the patio for a group of members where he taught members to create a grilled white-fish recipe with grilled potatoes. He used Orange Roughy, but any white fish will work.  It was delicious and all left knowing how to make a “hobo-style grilled white fish” meal!

• On Friday night, Will Hutchinson was our special guest providing music where members were able to sit, listen, and sing along. Learn more about Will’s music here.

We had an absolute blast spending the weekend with you all. This Couples Weekend continues to get more vibrant, year-after-year.
