The 2021 Homesteader — Event Details

Contests & Games

March 18, 2021 —

Each year, dozens of members (and a few of their guests!) participate in our annual Homesteader event.

It’s always a hoot.

This year’s event will be held from October 7 – October 9, 2021, our first time ever hosting it at the end of the season.

If you’re registered for this event, please find all the details you need below. If you are not yet registered but would like to be, email Andi.

OVERVIEW

The Homesteader is a two-person, two-day event. Teams can consist of either two members or a member and their guest, each of whom must have a GHIN handicap.

Event schedule:

  • Oct. 7: All-day practice round
  • Oct. 8: 9:30am Shotgun
  • Oct. 9: 9:30am Shotgun (Shootout to follow the final round)

The competition itself will follow the following format:

  • The field will be broken into flights based on the total team index.
  • Each player will play their own ball for all 36 holes.
  • Each player’s quota is determined by subtracting 36 from their course handicap.
    • E.g., if Player A is a 12-handicap, their quota is 24. If Player A scores a total of 26 points, their net score for the day is 2 points.
  • The final team score will be the combination of Player A’s and Player B’s individual scores for the day.
    • E.g., if Player A has a net score of 2 points and Player B has a net score of -4 points, the final team score is -2 points.
  • Points are earned based on gross scores, and will be awarded based on the player’s gross score on each hole. Points are as follows:
    • Bogey = 1 point
    • Par – 2 points
    • Birdie = 4 points
    • Eagle = 8 points
    • Double eagle = 16 points (would love to see one of these!)
  • The winner of the flight will be the team with the most combined points after 36 holes.
  • Each flight winner will advance to a shootout following the final round to determine the overall champion. The shootout will be a true alternate-shot competition.

We can’t wait to see you in October! After a full season of swings, we hope you bring some of your best.
