Two Dunes Holes-in-One in Back-to-Back Days

Holes-in-one

June 17, 2023 —

Last weekend, two aces sent echos of celebration across our Dunes Course. The two sites sit some 500-yards apart from each other.

Cole Thompson (left), son of members Andrew and Jennifer Thompson, and David Adams (right) both posing with their hole-in-one golf balls.

The first was by member David Adams of Fargo, ND.

The details:

  • Date: Sunday, June 11, 2023
  • Hole: Dunes 4 — 160 yards
  • Club: 6 iron
  • Witnessed by: Nate Adams and Zach Thiessen

David said of his hole-in-one:

“[The] wind was into us, so it played longer. We were playing the blue tees and pin was in the back part of the green in the middle.

We couldn’t see the bottom of the pin, so couldn’t see in roll in.”

The walked up and sure enough, there it was, at the bottom of the cup. Great shot, David!

And that wasn’t the only ace.

The second was by Cole Thompson, son of members Andrew and Jennifer Thompson of Gretna, NE.

The details:

  • Date: Monday, June 12, 2023
  • Hole: Dunes 16 — 154 yards
  • Club: 9 iron
  • Witnessed by: Rob Shuey, Mary Shuey, and Ethan Connolly

“Sorry dad, beat you to it.”

That’s what Cole texted his dad, Andrew, after beating him in their underlying race to the first hole-in-one in the family.  Cole is 17 years old and plays high school golf for Gretna High School near Omaha.

Coincidentally, Dunes 16 is where Cole’s uncle Casey Thomson (also, a TPC member) had his hole-in-one.

Cole’s dad had this to share:

“Cole hit a high soft 9 iron from 154 yards. It hit a few inches from the pin and dropped on the first bounce. This happened during their second round of the day — on their way to 54 holes.

Cole loves the game, and The Prairie Club is a truly special place in his eyes.”

Amazing stuff!
